The couple met 36 years ago, while Stephanie was in nursing school with Terraile's sister Jenaye Lisbon. Terraile says "it was love at first sight", they were both teenagers who quickly became friends and lovers as time developed. Shantelle Jefferson was born out of this union, however, this union was short-lived because they were very young. Terraile moved back to Fort Wayne, Indiana the place of his birth, and Stephanie remained in Detroit to further her nursing career and raise their daughter. Their romance was on and off throughout the years, and they both entertained marriage with other people. Stephanie says, "I thought we were done." However, Terraile would prove her wrong. Terraile would inquire about his first love from time to time. Last July, they both attended a trip to Cedar Pointe for their grandson, Shannon Thomas birthday celebration. Stephanie says, she was hesitant at first, but the more they talked and walked through the park, the more they enjoyed each other's company. Terraile decided to move back to Detroit again and was looking for a fresh start. . They decided to pursue a relationship, the couple have been inseparable since. Terraile had explored his love of cooking and opened a restaurant in Fort Wayne, named Jason's Place after his late son. The restaurant was successful but had to closed due to the lack of proper staff. He felt that he could create the same success here in Detroit, with family support and determination. They put their money, time, and intelligence together and Holy Smoke Barbecue was born. With the help of his Best Man, Kourtney Garrett and his nephew, Lonell Jefferson, Holy Smoke is a fast growing business. The couple's relationship has grown into a partnership, because they work as a team, with Terraile as the leader. They are each other's first love as young adults, and now with maturity, patience, and wisdom, they are ready to join as One.
